This is a surface hardening method that generates glow discharge in a dilute mixed gas atmosphere of nitrogen and hydrogen at several hundred pascals, simultaneously heating the workpiece and promoting nitriding due to ion impacts. Plasma nitriding is a processing method that is completely different from conventional nitriding methods, and it is currently being widely used for various mechanical parts, precision components, injection molding machine parts, and various molds, including automotive parts.
